The Velociraptor's Very Good Day
When an impossible-to-predict tragedy strikes, it’s up to Velociraptor to embrace who they really are and make a discovery that will change the world forever. Originally written for Prospect Theater Company’s Musical Theater Lab, this show explores Autistic joy and the history of an Earth-shaking food. Winner of the 2023 Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival.
Like Usual
A five-minute virtual musical tells the story of a blind date. Written for the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Reverb festival.
Requiem Aeternam (Rest in Peace)
This short, unaccompanied composition was written after the memorial service for a friend with whom I had the honor to sing in choir. The mostly homophonic texture allows the lyrics, in either Latin (“requiem aeternam”) or English (“rest in peace”), to be clearly heard and deeply felt. The piece is written for six voices, solo or in sections, and easy to learn.
Annunciation to the Shepherds
This advanced unaccompanied motet for skilled mixed divisi choirs was written for the North Carolina Master Chorale Chamber Choir. This setting of “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace” engages the listener through evocative harmonies, varied textures, a familiar text, and successful declamation. If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking
An artistic piano part creates the lovely musical backdrop for this sensitive, nuanced setting of an Emily Dickinson favorite. The rich choral textures and soaring melodic lines result in a wonderfully expressive work for concert or contest programming.
Cantate
The driving bass line along with the soaring soprano part of this energetic Psalm 96:1 setting creates a performance that will delight audiences of all ages. This piece was a J.W. Pepper Editor’s Choice selection and has been programmed by high schools, universities, and honor choirs on three continents.
